Cat's brow arched a moment, and he stopped with Michael. "You ought to come to the Crow's Nest with me," he said. "Like, now. When it starts raining, the path off the island is gonna flood, and you look like you could use a good dance." He'd heard something from his brother about the Hogwarts professors being party animals, hadn't he? What Michael needed was to get out some of that tension he was holding onto.

Michael opened his eyes and looked at Cat again. Going to a club wasn't exactly how he usually used up excess energy, and he could always get home with a quick call to Gilda if necessary. Dare was the one who went out. When was the last time he had even danced with someone who wasn't Dare? Well, at a club, at least. Dances at balls were more business than pleasure. He'd danced with Matthew a couple of times, as strange as it was to think of, back when he'd needed Dom tips.
"Lead the way," he said. It wouldn't hurt anything, and maybe visiting Skylar wasn't the best option when the source of his frustration was annoying college students. Or maybe that was just justification and a part of him was a little curious about dancing with someone new. It wasn't like he really shied away from new experiences anymore. But still... "My husband's been there before, I think he met your girlfriend there." Better to mention things and be safe.

That kicked a few memories loose. Cat tended to ignore Society talk, but it all came back now. Evelyn had been to a couple balls, but she'd also talked about Dare. And that night at the club. There had been some weird BDSM stuff, hadn't there? Cat glanced away to hide the flicker of recognition.
"You've met her, haven't you? She went to a ball with my brother... at your place!" He grinned. "He didn't shut up about that for a long-ass time, still brings it up when he gets a chance." It had been obvious that his brother had been holding back too, which didn't do any good when Cat knew how excited Castiel had been about spending a night with Evelyn.

"My mother's place," Michael corrected, though he actually had a small smile when he said it. "Your brother and lover seem well suited for Society events." As they walked, he cast yet another glance toward Cat. "They manage to hide anything deemed unsavory and Evelyn, at least, leaves people talking in her wake." It wasn't always a bad thing, and focusing on something that wasn't the lecture was helpful.

Cat couldn't help a quirk of the lips just at the way Michael talked. Definitely Society. "Ev does that wherever she goes," he said. "Castiel loves that sh~. Evelyn loves walking the line." In four-inch stilettos, and sometimes little else. He wondered if they'd run into her. He could give Michael a good time, but together they'd blow his mind.

"Walking the line is fun," Michael said, finally feeling the tension slowly start to leave his shoulders. "Hell, I've been living on the line for a long time. I just kind of learned to love it." For a long time he had walked the line, testing boundaries, before finally settling on one side. That side had led to a mark on his arm. Of course, he'd changed sides a couple of years later, but until Dare it had still felt like walking that narrow line.

"I told the line to f~ it a long-ass time ago," Cat said. "I go where I want and do what I want without being an a~hole about it." A lot of people got doing their own thing confused with getting off on the misery of others. Cat was not one of those people. "And what can I say?" Cat flicked a knowing glance at Michael. "People like it."

Cat sounded like Mano, at least a little. Michael snorted as he glanced over at Cat again. His deep brown eyes met Cat's for just a moment before he dragged them away. No, he shouldn't be so attracted to someone who wasn't Dare. God, when was the last time he had been so attracted to someone who wasn't his husband? Maybe at the strip club. No, he definitely shouldn't think about that. That was a line he wasn't about to cross. "They do, don't they?" Michael asked, a smile pulling at his lips. Yes, people did love all the gossip and story around a person who played with or ignored the line.

That's more like it. All that repression, that staying on the right side of an invisible line, was what Cat hated most about Society, and he realized he hadn't really talked to anyone from that world for as long as he could remember. His mom didn't count because she was his mom. This guy was holding back a hell of a lot, and Cat wondered if he held back everywhere but the bedroom. That wasn't something he'd just ask, though. Not yet, at least. universityofsorcery.proboards.com/thread/173/repression-aftermath
