"Yeah, this is him," Jai said. "I told him you were a badass motherf~er who got your teaching gig in a mass duel at the arena." He hadn't said any of that, really. In fact, he couldn't remember mentioning Cat at all. Most of what he remembered was trying to decide if the guy was available or not.

Cat laughed at the obvious b.s. and shook his head. "I'm not really into dueling," he told Sean. "Got challenged to one the other day and told him he could suck it." Not in so many words, but it was the same idea. He wouldn't go into the depths of Saren's attempts to impress him with douchery just now, but he'd probably tell Jai when Sean wasn't around.

Sean felt very small again, but tried not to let the feeling take over. It was obvious the two were good friends and he wondered how this would turn out. He wanted to keep dancing with Cat, but then there was Jai, who he also wanted to dance with. Oh maybe he just needed another drink, his first was quickly wearing off. "I didn't know there was a dueling arena," was what he eventually managed to say.

"I'll have to give you a tour sometime," Cat said. He'd have to make this up to Jai later, because he was itching to dance again. "Catch you tomorrow, all right Jai?" He gave a quick I owe you look, then settled his hand against Sean's back to lead him deeper into the crowd.

Jai turned away and headed off toward the bar. He'd just shake it off and find someone else. Maybe he'd have a shot at Sean when Cat was done with him. Whenever that was. His sour mood wouldn't last long, and he knew it. He'd have found someone else within the hour.

Sean watched Jai leave, uncertainty nipping at the edges of his thoughts again. "You sure it's okay?" he asked as the crowd filled in Jai's path. He'd mostly only come to the club for a dance with Jai, it didn't feel quite right to send him away when he actually did want to dance with him. Being social was much harder than it should have been.

"Totally sure," Cat said. "We don't fight over people. People can make up their own minds about things. I won't keep you from dancing with him if you want, but I was hoping we could get back to what we were doing." He slid his hands against Sean's hips in invitation and gave a teasing smile. "If you're up for it," he added.

Sean looked up at Cat, then away again as he thought. "I'm sorry, I told him I'd dance with him," he said finally, despite the wonderful feeling of hands on his hips. He pulled his gaze around to look at Cat again. "Maybe we can dance another time? I could buy you that drink then." He gave a half smile, hoping the guy was sincere about the whole people can make up their own minds thing.

"Yeah, sure. Just find me whenever," Cat said. It was disappointing as hell, but it was fair. He'd just get himself lost in the crowd and dance off the politely-worded rejection. Still, he couldn't resist leaning down for just a quick kiss, a press of lips if Sean didn't push him away, then he'd go.

Sean didn't duck away from the kiss, but at the same time resisted any urge he felt to push it further. A minute later and he was wandering through the crowd in what he hoped was the direction of the bar, reasoning that if he didn't manage to find Jai there, he could at least get a drink. He hoped he wouldn't regret his decision later.

Jai had talked the bartender into letting him have a hurricane. Not that it had taken much, apparently Sunset had relaxed the rules for him tonight. He scanned the crowd as he sipped, looking for a likely guy, and was surprised to see Sean. Without Cat. His friend usually had a much longer attention span than that.
"Thirsty?" he asked. "Anything you want is on the house."

Sean smiled and said thanked Jai as he ordered another rum and coke and settled at the bar. "It didn't feel right not giving you the dance I promised," he said. He knew that if he hadn't come to see Jai, he wouldn't have felt comfortable with the decision, however good looking and fun Cat was. "Besides, I was kind of looking forward to dancing with you."

"I was kind of looking forward to it, too," Jai said, eyeing Sean. He couldn't believe the guy had left Cat for him. The whole promise thing sounded like an excuse. Who kept little promises like that when something better came up? Not enough people to count. "So you came all this way to dance with me?" he teased. "Guess I'd better make it good."

"You're a rock star, I'm pretty sure it'll be good," Sean said, reaching for the glass slid to him across the bar. Was that a tease? Maybe it counted as a tease, he didn't know, it felt like one. "Do you use the I'm in a band thing often?" he asked. He put the glass to his lips, once again taking an overly large drink from it.

"Only when I want to impress someone," Jai said. Yes, he used it often. There wasn't much point in not using it, since he had it. His lips curved. "Did it work?" he teased. It looked like it had, since Sean was here instead of dancing with Cat.
