"Maybe," Sean said, looking into his glass. "Or maybe I just think you're hot." Since when did he say things like that? The two guys were already rubbing off on him, though that was probably a good thing. He was going to need some serious recoup time after tonight, it was difficult getting used to being out in such places.

Jai's lips curved broadly at that. "Then maybe we better finish our drinks so we can get hotter," he said. He still had the better part of his left, but wasn't worried about it. He could get another drink later.

Sean wasn't the type to leave a drink unfinished, not that his tended to last very long, anyway. "I think that is a brilliant idea," he said, raising his glass in a cheers. The plan had been to dance with Jai from the beginning, anyway. In a few long drinks he emptied his glass of all but the ice before setting it back on the bar with a clink and a rattle.

Jai abandoned his drink when Sean abandoned his and called it good enough. He didn't feel like talking anymore when he could dance, and wasn't nearly as careful as his friend had been. His hands were firm and ready to enjoy, less about seduction than about just moving.

It was different, but Sean kind of liked it. He knew what it was like to just go for something because he wanted it, sometimes being careful didn't cut it. After he'd gotten more comfortable, a hand reached up to dip his fingers into the hair just at the base of Jai's skull, the hat preventing him from moving any further. "Is the hat supposed to be mysterious or something?" he asked, smiling. He still felt the warmth from his drinks.

"It's my disguise," Jai claimed. "So the fan's don't eat me unless I want them to." Or he'd found it in a thrift shop and thought it was badass, but that story wasn't as much fun. "I'll take it off if you come home with me," he teased. For the moment, he'd forgotten that he allegedly lived at school.

"Well, unless I want to sleep outside, I figured I would be heading home with you, anyway," Sean said. Was Jai trying to be clever? Maybe he was and Sean had just messed up a joke. He really was bad at this. It was usually a battle with himself when he was deciding whether or not to go home with someone, torn between wanting to be apart and wanting to explore. This time, it seemed the decision was made for him.

"I don't live at VU," Jai confided. His lips curved slightly. "I've got a place in Valfirid that's a lot nicer. I just keep the dorm room in case I need a rest between classes." And because rules were rules. Apparently part of getting some of his work to go was at least pretending to follow the rest of the rules.

"Of course you'd have somewhere in town," Sean said, almost chuckling at the revelation that shouldn't have been at all surprising. "What's it like being able to do whatever you want?" He liked to think he was relatively free to do as he pleased in his own life, but there was always something holding him back from truly being free.

"It's amazing," Jai said with a grin. Sunset put up a blockade here and there, but he just bounced off and did something else. Leaving that bar with the vampire had turned out to be the best thing he'd ever done.
"I always did my own thing. It's my life, who's gonna stop me?" The only real hangup he'd had was his own fear and he was done with that.

"Good point," Sean said, nodding. He was increasingly good at doing his own thing and being who he wanted to be, even with the setback of the breakup he'd experienced. "Go out and do whatever you want, live the dream everyone else wishes they could." His fingers trailed down Jai's neck to a tattoo, his eyes followed the same path.

"I'll let you tag along if you want," Jai said, hardly paying attention to the words. No part of him was even considering a relationship, but he figured the more the merrier. A party wasn't a party if you were doing it alone. He liked the admiration, liked that Sean had walked away from Cat for him. It was an ego boost. He was happy with the dance until he wasn't anymore, and then he asked Sean back to his place again for a little private fun. Life was good.
