"Perhaps love is worth fighting for?" Dismas suggested. "I cannot advise you which path to choose. I only know that this path is open." He left it at that. Jory seemed broken-hearted and torn, but he got the impression that Jai wasn't the boy's first choice.

Jory peeled away a section of orange and shoved it into his mouth rather than respond. He couldn't imagine getting Indigo back at this point, not when he'd run into someone else's arms so quickly and willingly. With Jai...well, he'd had fun. Jai was excited to hear about divination stuff and actually knew what he was talking about. "What about Danica?" he asked finally.

"Danica may be ready to move ahead on her own," Dismas said. "She and Jai are fond of one another, but not especially attached. You may have gotten that impression earlier this evening." Dismas wouldn't reveal everything to Jory unless the boy became fully involved in things. He didn't yet know what he could trust Jory with.

"Yeah, that's kind of what she said," Jory said, focusing on his hands still. It was going to be rough moving ahead in his life. How long did it take to get over someone? He couldn't imagine there being a time any time soon where he didn't ache thinking about Indigo. "Well, I guess you might be seeing me some, especially since I'll have to find somewhere to stay."

"We have spare rooms, if you're in a tight situation. This is a rather large house for two people." He paused, then looked pointedly at Astra. "I don't know if your dog is comfortable in my presence though, so you might take that into consideration." Animals tended not to like him much. This one hadn't made any move to attack him, but neither had it been especially friendly. It had lay down outside Sunrise's bedroom door immediately and stayed there.

"She's just worried about me, is all," Jory said, using his toes to rub lightly at her ear. "She's been trained to keep an eye on me for Seer stuff. We'd only been there for a month, barely even finished setting everything up." And Indigo had suggested it because he wanted to test things out for maybe getting married. It was like his heart was ripped in two all over again remembering that.

"Domesticated animals aren't often fond of me," Dismas clarified. "It's nothing I take personally." He smiled and showed a purposeful flash of fang. "Just keep track of her mood, if you will, and I'll do the same." He had no desire to wake up at dusk to the sounds of an animal trying to claw through his door. He had no real ability to communicate with pets, aside from warnings, and so the dog would be happier if its master kept it close.

Jory nodded, but lapsed into silence as he finished his fruit and drink. Soon enough, he'd spoken a low goodbye and hidden himself away in Jai's room again. As Astra settled herself outside of the door again, after a generous trip to the water bowl finally, he slid beneath the blankets and was asleep nearly immediately. In his sleep, he sought out the body in the bed with him as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
