"The Holyhead Harpies," Ian joked. "But no, seriously? Puddlemere United." He supposed it was as good a team as any, he just liked a good game, he wasn't generally too picky about who he watched. "All the teams are a little twisted, aren't they? I don't imagine you've ever been on a broom past first year."

Juliane let out a little laugh. "I'm a fan of the Wimbounre Wasps, myself." She said, though she wouldn't admit that the real reason she was a fan was because she admired their choice of robes. She thought her little scheme at pretending like she knew what she was talking about was going well, until his last statement. "That's so not true!" She argued automatically. When she thought about it, it probably was true. She racked her brain for any recollection of another time when she was on a broom, but she couldn't seem to reca---OHH! "I think there was a time when I was a third year..." She said vaguely. It was when her older brother first started at Hogwarts and was learning to fly himself. He wanted to make sure he was good enough to make the Quidditch team for the next year and through his determination to make the team, he made Juliane practice with him. Only, as soon as he saw Juliane on a broom, he knew it was a mistake to ask his poorly-skilled sister for Quidditch lessons. At the time, it had crushed her just a little bit. It was the first time one of her brothers didn't need her help, but now it was something to laugh about.

Ian chuckled lightly again and decided it wasn't nearly as important to watch where he was going as watch her. "Maybe I'll have to get you on a broom sometime, ruffle up that pretty hair of yours," he teased. "Don't worry, you can ride on mine, I'm more than safe." Most of the time. Kind of. When he wanted to be. He liked tricks, loved the adrenaline rush he got from rushing through the air at top speed and narrowly avoiding obstacles.

Juliane fake-gasped. "Not the hair!!" She mocked. In all reality, she was worried about her hair getting messed up. It wasn't easy keeping the once-frizzy red-hot mess in smooth waves. That wasn't the only reason she stayed off of a broom. She looked like a fool when she attempted to fly. Give her a pair of five-inch stilettos and she could walk as graceful as a swan flies. Stick her on a broom, and she looked like an elephant. Not to mention the terrifying heights. She hated looking down to see the trees on the ground below here getting smaller, ready to swallow her up. On the ground, she was in control and that was something she didn't have in the sky.
Juliane bit her lip. She was ready to tell him that flying wasn't really her thing. That he'd be better off asking the statue of the fat lady at the University to go flying with him, but the moment she looked at him...she lost control of her words. She melted and gave in. "Yeah, maybe." She said, taken over by that strong jawline and those green eyes. What she was thinking and what she was saying were two very different things and for some reason she couldn't get the two things to match up.

"You'd have fun," Ian said, grinning. Smiling and joking were things that had always come easily to him. "I promise not to do too many tricks while we're up there with me. I'll only do a couple of dives and loops." His eyes sparkled. He had the distinct impression he wouldn't be able to breathe if she rode behind him on a broom and he went toward the ground.

"Would I?" She asked vaguely, not really expecting an answer. She was a little too surprised at the fact that he was already telling her what she would like to say anything else. It wasn't that she was nervous because of it or offended by it, but it had been a long time since she had been around anyone who could tell her what she would like even if she wasn't sure herself. She had friends, but they were more like acquaintances or business contacts and she never was any good when it came to relationships. As soon as a guy started to show any sign of attachment, she let him go.
But there was something about the way he said You'd have fun, that made her believe that maybe she would have fun. Well, at least she believed she could have fun until he mentioned the dives and loops and what not. That was when her stomach felt like it hit the floor. "Dives? Loops?" She repeated, her blue eyes getting wider. "Are those...erm safe?" She tried to keep her voice even. She didn't want to sound like she was weak or terrified...even if she really was.

Ian chuckled again and nodded. "Of course, as long as you're with me. Of course, trusting me would probably help, too." He was under no delusions that she would trust him, they had just met, and he had no intentions of trying to form anything long-term with the woman, other than maybe a friendship with a couple extra benefits every now and then. "I've been doing it for years."

Juliane didn't notice she was smiling at first. She didn't have a problem trusting people. If anything, she had a problem trusting herself. "Okay." She said with a slight nod It was a yes, although for some reason her voice didn't want to just say that. She wasn't quite sure, but she thought she just agreed to go flying. On a broom. With a guy who she had known for less than an hour. Who did dives and loops. In the air. It was terrifying, but she told herself that if she didn't dwell on it too much, sh wouldn't psych herself out.

"So what does a robe maker do for fun?" Ian asked. "I mean, if you don't do sports. Do you go to sewing circles?" He couldn't help the teasing. When it was necessary, he could make himself be serious, but it just seemed like it would be a waste of energy to push himself, especially since she hadn't taken any offense at anything he had said. Yet.

Juliane giggled. "Yeah and while we're there we reminisce about how it was back in the good ol' days and share stories about our cats." She replied with an equal amount of tease. If she thought about it, it might have been exactly what some of the older robe makers did for fun. She grinned, thankful that it would be a looooong time before she was one of them. She shrugged. "Sometimes it's nice to get out of Valfirdu and catch up with old friends, if we're not all busy." Maybe it wasn't as exciting as zooming through the air at high speeds, but it was always a good time. One of the hardest transitions she made when she graduated from the University was not seeing her friends everyday, but they still caught up now in then. Valfirdu was great, but it was nice to get away from all the university kids. "How about you?" She asked, pulling herself out of her own thoughts. "What do you do when your not torturing your poor team?" She teased. He didn't seem like he could hurt a fly, even if he did have those nice, bulky muscles.

"In the summer or in the winter?" Ian asked. "When it's hot enough, I'm out in the water, when it's not, I'm wishing it was." He had a few things he did during his free time, and he always had a couple weekends set aside for himself. He loved being able to be free to do what he wanted, at least most of the time. He didn't really have many people to hang out with, friends seemed to disappear.

Juliane tried to imagine the time of year when the sun was out, beating down on her delicately pale skin, and when the water was warm. It was hard to do when there was a small breeze that felt like it almost cold enough to cut through her scarf. "Have you ever jumped into the water when it was freezing?" Freezing in the slightly-dramatic sense that it was cold, not that it was literally ice. Juliane had been dared to do it once when she was at Hogwarts. There had been a lake there and she had gotten as far as the edge before she turned around, announced that anyone would have to be mentally insane to jump into the water at that time of year, and marched back to the warmth of her Common Room.

"Yep, I've done it a few times, actually. It's a rush." That was an understatement, it was like everything in his body froze for just a minute, and then there was this intense rush as his body rushed to make up for the sudden change in temperature. "Why, have you?" Ian highly doubted it, but he supposed that everyone could surprise.

Juliane shook her head. "No." She said, suddenly regretting walking away from the lake that day. She went through a rebellious stage in the earlier years of her wizarding education. At home, she was forced to be the woman of the house. She took care of her brothers and her father when they were sick, cleaned the house, and comforted her brothers when they needed it. She would play games with them, warn them to be careful, and if something happened to them she took it personally. As a child, she was too busy being an adult so that when she got to Hogwarts it felt like she needed to make up for lost time. She had crazy, fun, loud friends that also had a strong influence on her. She would go to parties and pull pranks with them, but when it came down to it...she could never quite make herself do anything that would so obviously put herself in danger. In the back of her mind, she was worried about not being able to be there for her father and brothers when they needed her. As a creature of habit, that same concern and fear stuck with her all of these years. "I was dared to once, but I never did it." She said in one breath. It wasn't something she admitted to anyone other than the few people who had been present that night. It was a sign of weakness and she avoided showing her signs of weakness.

"Oh-ho," Ian said, raising his eyebrows at her. "How dare you break a dare? I suppose sometime I'll just have to make you make good on it." He winked and looked ahead. What would it take to get this woman to let loose enough to do something crazy like that? Ian decided it was a new goal of his to figure out the answer to that question.
